After a break of two years, Faversham Open Gardens returned on Sunday 26th June.

Rotarian Sue Hoey has taken part in Open Gardens before, but this year she decided that she’d like to offer refreshments as well.
Several Club members, together with family and friends, set about baking scones, cakes and meringues to tempt the visitors. Tea, coffee and soft drinks were available too, with Club members taking it in turns to “man the café” in Sue’s kitchen!

The garden looked fabulous and people were full of praise for how lovely it was. “A hidden gem” was a phrase used by more than one visitor. 
The English summer weather couldn’t have been better and an amazing number of people came through the gate to enjoy the beautiful colourful garden created by Sue and her late husband Michael.

Many visitors took the opportunity to sit and soak up the atmosphere while enjoying their tea and cake. Thanks to their generous donations £400 was collected which Faversham Rotary will put to good use supporting local projects.

The Rotary Club. of Faversham weekly meeting has, in the past, always been held on a Monday.

With effect from the 17th May 2022 the weekly meeting night has been moved to Tuesdays.

The meeting time remains 6.45pm for 7pm at the Faversham Golf Club, Belmont.

What a fabulous day at the Faversham Family Bike Ride! The event took place in glorious spring sunshine and was enjoyed by more than 150 people. Organised by Faversham Rotary Club, the scenic 12.5 km route went through some of the beautiful countryside around Faversham.

In one of her last official engagements as Mayor, the ride was started by Cllr Alison Reynolds who also picked out the winner of the Kesson Physio Competition which was won by Clare Skinner.

159 cyclists took part, 95 adults and 64 children, aged from 3 to 73. Some of the youngest participants were in bike trailers, while other riders used a bit of battery power to help them round.

There were 30 route marshalls and a further 20 at the event site at the Abbey School. Marshalls included Brian Tovey, a founder of the original Faversham Bike Ride.

Some cyclists were sponsored for charities of their choice, others rode for Faversham Rotary’s chosen charity Imago, which supports Young Carers. A spokesperson for Faversham Rotary Club said that the monies raised so far are in excess of £2000.

The event was sponsored by Kesson Physiotherapy, Bensted Charities, Queenborough Fisheries, Kent Community Foundation and Rotary International.

Favourite quote of the day was from the keen young rider who called it “The Tour de Faversham” and said it was the best bike ride he’d ever been on 🚲😍
