Faversham Rotary, together with Rotary clubs worldwide, is supporting humanitarian relief operations for the people of Ukraine.
The Club emptied its Emergency Reserve Fund with an immediate donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal.
Club members were in the Market Place on two Saturdays in March collecting donations for Ukrainian refugees. The total donated was over £1000. A huge “Thank you” to the people of Faversham for your generosity.
An additional collection at Macknade Food Hall in April raised a further £250 in donations from Macknade’s generous customers.
There will of course be a need for continuing support, both medium and long term, and the Club is working on future fund-raising ideas.
The recent Quiz Night was great fun and a good time was had by all who took part.
It might have been April Fool’s Day but some of the teams were certainly no fools, with just one point separating first and second place in an enjoyable high-scoring contest.
The “Cars” round proved really challenging. Who knew how difficult it could be to name the makers of specific cars? That was a real head-scratcher for most teams!
The Quiz raised more than £170 for Faversham Young Carers, so thank you to everyone who contributed. It just shows that fund-raising can be fun!!
The Club was delighted to welcome two new members at its evening meeting on 14th February.
Simon Moore and John Payne were formally inducted by President Dave Darby, who then introduced them to all the members present.
Simon and John have already attended some meetings and helped with the Club’s Christmas fund-raising activities.
As full members they will now be able to participate more fully in all the Club’s meetings and events. We look forward to getting to know them better and to making use of the skills and experience they bring to the Club.
