Faversham Rotary visited Queen Elizabeth School Faversham for a presentation and demonstration of the F1 project that a team of four students are involved with. F1 in schools is an international competition with teams creating CO2 propelled race cars, team portfolios and pit displays, as well as gaining sponsorship via a marketing campaign, while developIng a range of very useful transferable skills. This year's team of Zoe, George, Lewis and Natalie has already been successful in the regional competitions and are heading for the National Final at Silverstone.

Pictured right with Club President Ruth Carlisle is the F1 team: George, Lewis and Natalie - we are so delighted to be supporting them and super thrilled they are doing so well!!

Fundraising For Another Literacy Box For Africa

Thursday 18th January 2018

On Monday this week we were treated to a lively presentation by Michael Hoey on the history of beer at the Red Sails Restaurant. Over 35 people attended to learn about the fascinating role beer has played in our lives over the centuries. Eight beers were tasted accompanied with matched taster plates.

The proceeds of the evening, which came to a magnificent £415, will go to support a Literacy Box - which in short is a classroom in a box which will be sent to a developing country in Africa to provide much needed literary skills to school pupils.

The two weeks leading up to Christmas is always a busy time for the Rotary Club of Faversham; it is when we carry out our annual Christmas collection, which has now been running for 66 years! Our Christmas Float and Carols has become one of the keenly anticipated events of the year in Faversham and thanks to the generosity of the people of Faversham we collected a magnificent £4,583 this year. This will be used to support a number of local and international projects and good causes in the coming year. Thank you all for your continued support and generosity.

Saturday 23rd December 2017

With musical entertainment from Faversham's community choir 'The Fleur Singers', the wonderful voice of Dianne Griffen accompanied by Andrew Mussett on piano, joyful carols from the excellent choir from St Mary's School, delicious fish 'n chips from Ossie's and the whole event guided and supported with songs and stories old and new by Martin Young and his musical partner Jeff (two of Faversham's very best local entertainers) the Faversham Rotary Club's Senior Citizens Christmas lunch was attended by almost 100 happy souls and we trust that the Christmas Season started on a truly festive note! Our Mayor Shiel Campbell, as ever, joined in the fun and gave thanks and also remembered Doug Wake a Rotarian who contributed so much to this event in previous years but who sadly passed away in 2017.
